My raspberry pi 5 is the most unreliable machine I own. It goes offline / dead randomly after months of uptime. I literally use it for nothing more than an IRC shell. I always keep it updated and reboot when needed (kernel update). But so many times I try to ssh in and it’s just dead. Ridiculous.

I think I might reflash it with a fresh OS. What do people recommend for an 8GB (memory) one of these? I’ve just been using their standard Linux which is some repackaged Debian.

@bryan I had extreme stability issues with my raspberry pi 5 8GB as well. It randomly crashed when I copied data onto the internal SSD I had it running on. What solved it immediately was switching to a different (non-metallic) casing. Somehow some piece of the pi must have touched some part of the case. Now with a plastic case it has been 100% stable for months.
