Game 7 of World Series and Apple Sports be like “If Necessary” 😂

Resell value of wireless routers is pretty bad. I’m auctioning off on eBay an eero Pro 6. Right now the bidding has reached $16.50! I think it was $199 when I bought it in 2020? I can’t find the receipt - it was cheaper to purchase on a Black Friday special from Best Buy…
On #Instagram the comment section on this tired video uploaded hundreds of times from many accounts is always a treat: people discovering how #mayonnaise is made.

I sometimes will watch food and restaurant themed reels on Instagram. Often browsing #Oahu or #Hawaii to find new local places.
But about 90% of the restaurant “sponsored links,” aka advertisements, are for places like New Jersey, Utah, Michigan, Arizona, Boston, etc. I’ve never even visited most of these places!
So many ads on Instagram are extremely poorly targeted. Just setting money on fire. 🔥 I kind of feel bad for all these small businesses but 🤷🏼♂️
I would totally be onboard with #Neo doing chores poorly in my apartment. Vacuum, dishes, laundry, maybe making bed, fetching me a drink, etc? Heck yeah! Living with a first gen #autonomous #robot? 🫨
Privacy obviously a nightmare.

When I was a student at Cal State LA (2001?), I took an English class where we had to pick a new book and basically write an essay about something new we learned.
I chose “Stupid White Men” by Michael Moore. I still to this day am enraged over the chapter about recycling. The performative BS in that industry and lack of actual recycling was maddening. It was cities literally giving themselves trophies and telling constituents they were saving the planet.
I feel so old talking about a book written ~25 years ago…
Really nice feature that #Tailscale is adding. Can run your own relay instead of depending on their relays that can be painfully slow.

Went to Apple Store today to try the Dual Knit Band. The fit is really fantastic. But I won’t be able to get one until December. The demand is way too high? Was not expecting that…

The #PayPal app on my iPhone has to be the most annoying trash app I have on my phone. It can sometimes take up to 3 minutes to log in. It’s set up with faceid and it will just spin, spin, spin loading of what looks like some embedded webpage at login. Entire UI is either not showing or unresponsive until this landing page loads. Such a total piece of garbage. I hate that app so much, and I’m glad I barely use it once a month.
How is it possible eBay isn’t dead from all this nonsense? Unbelievable.
18th Inning. Walk-off HR. Freddie Freeman! Dodgers win!
I think #mastodon should limit the number of #hashtags per post. Every once in awhile I run across a post that is a solid block of hashtags. Maybe 3 hashtags is a good limit? #fedidev

📣THREAD: It’s surprising to me that so many people were surprised to learn that Signal runs partly on AWS (something we can do because we use encryption to make sure no one but you–not AWS, not Signal, not anyone–can access your comms).
It’s also concerning. 1/
New round of #Amazon layoffs are sure to help US-EAST-1! All that extra AI usage should inspire confidence in #AWS…

Remember life before we all had digital mapping systems in our cars and phones?
Thomas Guide and small maps from #AAA. I kept 3 in my car: Inland Empire, Los Angeles County, and Orange County. When I was headed to San Diego, I’d make a mental note to borrow someone’s or stop at AAA for a map of the grid I needed.
I also had a laminated map of the entire freeway system in Southern California. It would fold up into a (maybe) small 3x5 card. It was one of the free maps AAA would provide if you knew to ask for it.

Apparently tons of people registered accounts on tons of platforms with i@hate.you
Not knowing that .you would come to exist in 2025.

Have you noticed that when the blame #DNS meme starts flying the root is perfectly operational, there is rarely a mention of the big registry operators, BIND, Unbound, Knot, and PowerDNS are absent the conversation, and many who can craft a reasonable dig query are getting responses from local and public resolvers to debug?
Even with all the misconfiguration, added complexity on top of it, and burden of being used by practically every service on the Internet, we should marvel at how amazingly good the vast majority of the DNS performs despite our best efforts to overwhelm it with all the Internet junk we've created.
