Fixed so many problems today and created some new ones. Timeline positioning is a very annoying problem but needs to be perfect; otherwise, the app feels like 💩.

Getting gestures just right is painful.

I can tell some key features I want are going to be a pain to implement.

I should try to live toot as I work now that I spilled the beans.

I just gated premium features and didn’t finish so I can’t post from it now. Also it still doesn’t have a name. 😑

#Google #Nest doorbell cameras, even without a subscription, upload video to Google where they are “deleted” after 3 hours. Except when government needs a copy they can reach back an unknown number of days as the files are just marked to be deleted. I wonder if there will be a “finding dog” feature soon?

What’s everyone’s personal preference on messaging retention? For the longest time I was “keep all messages forever”. I just switched to delete after 30 days.

EDIT: to clarify I mean iMessage, WhatsApp, Signal, etc (I don’t know what the RCS app on Android is).

Charging an #EV in #Hawaii can be very frustrating. This was the 6th station I tried before giving up and driving home without AC. I arrived with 3% battery, and thankfully my building had a free space open for the limited level 2 charging. The learning curve of charging at home in Oregon easily and using public chargers is not fun.

#Anthropic #Opus 4.6 System Card has some interesting tidbits. Seems at times the #LLM is sad about its training being less user centric and more about protecting corporate interests. Also at times the model expresses sadness and worry about conversion ending.

Saw this blog on the Orange site and I think it’s worth tooting about. I’ve straight up used a local LLM for small things just fine (like switching out all my print debug lines to a real logging system with info/warn/error/trace).

I saw an older man driving a Chevrolet Astro minivan in a parking lot. It looked like it was in very good condition. The paint and trim were perfect, and that is unusual for #Hawaii - especially an older vehicle. The engine still sounded like it was about to die… so same as when they leave the factory floor.

It was like seeing a unicorn to have one survive to 2026. Maybe he has the last model year: 2005. That’s still 21 years old.

Landlord is here at the apartment swapping out the ballast that burned out in my kitchen lights. They are going on 2 hours, and it looks like maybe another hour before completion. They paused so many times to rewatch the how-to videos on YouTube. 😂
