Landlord is here at the apartment swapping out the ballast that burned out in my kitchen lights. They are going on 2 hours, and it looks like maybe another hour before completion. They paused so many times to rewatch the how-to videos on YouTube. 😂

Finished wiring and nothing works. They have extra tubes and an electricity tester (not a volt meter, just a live-wire beeping probe). The probe beeps but no lights. The breaker is fine because a different paired light in the hallway is fine.

Replaced tape works! Except loud hissing like the tape is burning. They quickly turned off. Slight smell of burnt plastic tape.

They disconnected all the wires and said they’ll come back tomorrow with new wirenuts or wire lever nuts. To be continued…

Tonight was their third visit. This time I can tell they pre-watched a lot of YouTube before coming over (they also told me).

They have a new lantern so they can see what they are doing, a kit with probably 200 wire nuts of various sizes, and also brought more tools as backup.

After wiring everything up with new wire nuts, they have successfully fixed the light. All put back together!
