In case people are wondering why GitHub has been having some issues as of late - the GitHub COO recently shared that they're handling up to an order of magnitude more traffic than they were a year ago.

It's not like GitHub is just serving up pictures and text - things like the core git backend and actions are quite complex to host at scale. Idk, I guess I'm not surprised there are some stability issues when they're going from handling 1 billion commits/year to 14 billion commits/year.

My mom used to do environmental activism. All by herself, she got earth day and a recycling center going in town, and was a whistleblower about Dow chemical using agent orange. She was mentioned in Time Magazine for it.

Then she went to a barbecue for environmentalists. They put her down for wearing red lipstick and long nails.

And then her activism days petered out because she didn't want to hang out with these people.

Make sure you can see the forest for the trees.

I like this #AI tech bubble more than the #crypto one. Crypto seemed to be pure grifting while AI might produce something useful when the dust settles.

Looking forward to #quantum to have its turn as well. That one will clean up the crypto grift.

I’m seriously thinking about going next year as a spectator. Looks like a bunch of cool #robots. On the other hand Beijing has a robot conference / trade show every year. Maybe best to checkout that.

#Babylon5 S01E19 A Voice in the Wilderness: Part 2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Big ship is an earth heavy cruiser. They want to take control of the tech found on the planet below. Sinclair upset because this warship is trying to take control of Babylon 5. Alien in bay is over 500 years old and has been running the planet underground power and defensive systems. Ambassador and her teacher, another ambassador, and the alien go to planet. Ambassador teacher volunteers to run the machine by plugging himself into it - sacrificing his life. Garibaldi finally gets ahold of old girlfriend on mars. He is giddy with happiness only to be told by her she is now married and expecting her first child. Overall one of the best episodes of Babylon 5 in season 1 so far.

#Babylon5 S01E18 A Voice in the Wilderness: Part 1 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Planet the station orbits has a powerful energy beam shooting out of it. Planet was supposed to be inhabitable and empty. Investigation starts. Mars colony rebels against earth government. Minbari ambassador has an old teacher visit. He’s unhappy with homeworld changes and wants to commit suicide (which is apparently normal when you’re old but he’s just on the edge of the age?). Garibaldi depressed about not calling some girlfriend on Mars and now there is a communication blockade. Investigation of planet results in finding an old port 5km below the surface. Alien is found asking for help while being integrated into the wall. Alien brought to station. Something starts to come through jump gate and episode ends.

#Babylon5 S01E17 Legacies ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Huh. Two episodes in a row about telepaths. Young pickpocket hits puberty, and her powers are extremely strong. Many want her to join their ranks, and ultimately, she chooses to join the Minbari, an alien superpower that almost wiped out humans in a long war.

#Babylon5 S01E16 Eyes ⭐️⭐️⭐️
First time posting for this show. Maybe I should do it more… I find it interesting how Babylon 5 has a very negative view of telepathy. Really think #StarTrek did a better job dealing with this via Betazoids.

I ran this poll 2 years ago and 90% of the correspondents on mastodon told me there were no required AI usage at their workplace.

I would like to ask the same question again in 2026:

“Does your workplace have any AI related requirements, either as major project goal, in performance review, or with usage analytics tracking, against your own will?”

Boost welcomed.
