Vacation mode activated. Going to Korea and Japan for 3 weeks. This is being “paid for” via purchasing critical medicines I need in Korea that are basically unaffordable in the US! 😑
So, it turns out the German implementation of eIDAS (electronic ID wallet for e.g. age attestation) will require an Apple/Google account to function
Absolutely pathetic
I built a pure Swift XML parser (no DTD, external entity, transcoding support) at https://github.com/compnerd/xylem. Some informal testing indicated that it is faster than libxml2 and xmloxide, a rust port of libxml2.
Today we're sending the first black person & the first woman to the moon.
But I know that Dr. Mae Jemison was the first black woman to travel into space when she served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 1992.

Also, Jemison became the first real-life astronaut to appear on #StarTrek
Here's Jemison as Lt. Palmer in #StarTrekTNG episode Second Chances talking to Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek's Lt. Uhura, outside the set.

Age verification clearly doesn't belong into #systemd. We should have never merged this. Instead this should be incrementally added to the kernel itself. I'm doing my part:

Enjoying how so far this entire #MLB season has been non-stop exposure of how awful umpires have been. Just over and over again. If some knows of a video of all the different ABS packed into 1 video… plz share!
Couple of examples I found linked…

Do you want to be the most obnoxious person in the coffee shop? Boy do I have the product for you.
I know it’s not probably going to get here until summer, but I'm starting to get myself M5 Ultra fever. Come on, if they are going to officially kill off the Pro (which I still think they killed off as soon as M1 got released) throw us a bone.
Apple has been posting short little ads explaining Mac features starring their new lil Finder guy character. Lil Finder guy is such a great bit of character design; super fun and expressive! I hope we see more of Lil Finder guy in the 27 OS releases; he'd be a great desktop buddy! (1/3)
my husband loves me so much im starting to also love me
Very cool developments in physical #mail from #USPS. For the first time, 8% surcharge for fuel costs through Jan 2027. Reads to me like it will only impact packages since stamps are priced the same.

Hello Pirates, so can I #bittorrent all I want now without using a stupid VPN? #piracy
From link: In a statement shared with Variety, Cox Communications said, “The Supreme Court’s unanimous opinion is a decisive victory for the broadband industry and for the American people who depend on reliable internet service. This opinion affirms that Internet service providers are not copyright police and should not be held liable for the actions of their customers — and after years of battling in the trial and appellate courts, we have definitively shut down the music industry’s aspirations of mass evictions from the internet.
“Internet service providers provide the critical communications infrastructure for millions of Americans [...] Today’s decision allows us to focus on our goals of preserving open internet access, protecting consumers’ privacy, and ensuring that broadband remains a reliable resource for the families and businesses in the communities we serve.”

OS-X 10.0 Cheetah was released ~25 years ago. Precursor to #macOS, #iOS, and pretty much all of the OS that #Apple has now. From #Reddit.

Was in ER Sunday for some terrible pain they couldn’t diagnose. Anyway, I have to schedule a bunch of follow up appointments. This means turning off the “straight to voicemail” setting in my #iPhone for all strangers.
So I’m answering all these #spam calls now and they are just dead air? No one is talking or anything? Just I answer say, “hello” and about 5 seconds of dead air later the call ends?
I’m scheduled all my appointments so setting is back on. Sorry dead air spam callers! Next time! 🙄
A number of airports (including SFO) opted out of federally run TSA agents when Homeland Security started the program in 2004. They pay screening agents directly. I’m greatly annoyed more airports don’t opt into this solution…
