Was in ER Sunday for some terrible pain they couldn’t diagnose. Anyway, I have to schedule a bunch of follow up appointments. This means turning off the “straight to voicemail” setting in my #iPhone for all strangers.

So I’m answering all these #spam calls now and they are just dead air? No one is talking or anything? Just I answer say, “hello” and about 5 seconds of dead air later the call ends?

I’m scheduled all my appointments so setting is back on. Sorry dead air spam callers! Next time! 🙄

@bryan I turn mine off every now and again just to mess with spam callers. “Sir, this is very serious. If you do not pay me now you will be arrested.” “Ok, send them in. I’m ready and waiting. They’ll fare no better than the last group.”

@bryan They’re just enumerating working phone numbers.

They’re also queueing up victims - their approach is to indiscriminately call, and hope people hold long enough that they will be connected to an agent who suddenly becomes available. And there are people who will wait 15 to 30 seconds….

I’ve watched a friend repeatedly go “Hello? Heelllooooo? Is anyone there?” for an eternity before hanging up.
