When I was a student at Cal State LA (2001?), I took an English class where we had to pick a new book and basically write an essay about something new we learned.

I chose “Stupid White Men” by Michael Moore. I still to this day am enraged over the chapter about recycling. The performative BS in that industry and lack of actual recycling was maddening. It was cities literally giving themselves trophies and telling constituents they were saving the planet.

I feel so old talking about a book written ~25 years ago…

The #PayPal app on my iPhone has to be the most annoying trash app I have on my phone. It can sometimes take up to 3 minutes to log in. It’s set up with faceid and it will just spin, spin, spin loading of what looks like some embedded webpage at login. Entire UI is either not showing or unresponsive until this landing page loads. Such a total piece of garbage. I hate that app so much, and I’m glad I barely use it once a month.

How is it possible eBay isn’t dead from all this nonsense? Unbelievable.

Was getting irritated about not seeing how I could vote NO to Musk’s pay package of $1,000,000,000,000… then I remembered I don’t own any shares of #Tesla… 😂

Recall for #Linux
(Was unable to test on my #macOS)
From the developers:
Are you forced to work with Linux?
Do you miss the convenience of #Microsoft spying on you and keeping track of everything?

Fear not! This amazing tool will bring back all those great Windows Recall features that you have been missing:

🌲 Stores all you sensitive data in an convenient, easily accessible database
⏲️ 24/7 screencaptures of everything you do
🥳 Image to text conversion with OCR
😇 Index and store everything your friends tell you over chat apps or e-mail; if it's on your screen we've got you covered!
Did a friend once share confident information with you, but has since forgotten all about the shamefull details? No worries, you got that info!

Forgot about that website you visited 3 weeks ago, late in the evening while drunk? Yup, we stored that!

Remember life before we all had digital mapping systems in our cars and phones?

Thomas Guide and small maps from #AAA. I kept 3 in my car: Inland Empire, Los Angeles County, and Orange County. When I was headed to San Diego, I’d make a mental note to borrow someone’s or stop at AAA for a map of the grid I needed.

I also had a laminated map of the entire freeway system in Southern California. It would fold up into a (maybe) small 3x5 card. It was one of the free maps AAA would provide if you knew to ask for it.

TiVo was always kind of a stupidly run company. I remember getting a dual-tuner dual-cablecard box back in 2007 and it came with a stupidly small 120GB hard drive. If you paid them an enormous amount of more money you’d get a tiny bit of more space. I bought a 1TB disk and voided warranty installing it. Went from “120 hours” of storage to practically never deleting a show once recorded.

Looking at my cheap “neck & back massager” warnings (first bullet point). Is “invalids” a term used nowadays? 🤔
