@transience, did you try rebooting? Could be some migration thingy didn’t finish. Sometimes a reboot will get it unstuck.

Another solution is to turn off iCloud passwords/keychain. It all gets reset. Power off the device, then turn it back on. Go to iCloud and turn password syncing back on to redownload all the keys. Honestly, I’d just upgrade to iOS 27 and let a new codebase give it a shot.

Note: Before you do anything, make sure there is a backup of your device on iCloud or on a computer. I routinely destroyed my iPhone with nightly builds when working at Apple so take my advice with a grain of salt. I feel nothing when running into bugs… 🐛

@bryan Thank you so much for the tips! ❤️ I found the issue. I noticed I had 2 devices sharing the same passkey and as soon as I turned off my passkey on the older one, all the problems with the Reset Password page self-corrected on the newer phone. I successfully reset my password. ☺️ Thank you again! I’m keeping your advice for next time I have an issue. 👍

@transience Every update requires a total rebuild of the Spotlight search index. It will feel like your phone is bad for a couple of days while this runs. Especially if you have a big iMessage history.

There is definitely NOT planned obsolescence. Every iPhone that is no longer supported has a negative impact on services’ margins. Each device that stays functioning improves overall margin, as services are practically free to run compared to the revenue generated. As late as 2022 I had an iPhone 4S in my desk to test against changes we made to make sure the device still functioned, even though the device isn’t being updated anymore.
