I’ve read a number of mainstream reviews of people falling over themselves about how good #Muse is at being a personal assistant… so I thought I’d give it a spin.
To be honest, it is actually pretty bad for the task I gave it: find a USB-A to USB micro Type B connector. I think Muse’s inability is more because of all the anti-bot stuff going on.
#Amazon is really good at blocking bots, and so is #Cloudflare. Monoprice is behind Cloudflare, so Muse couldn’t even look at pricing. BestBuy and Walmart were viewable, but there were constant bot blockers that had Muse asking for help. I told Muse to solve the puzzles itself, and it was able to get past whatever Walmart and BestBuy do. After giving it the ok to purchase, it was a huge new pain in the ass. You either give it your personal account information or set up a new account. Then paying is some wallet connection with Stripe, which obviously won’t work everywhere. An alternative is a virtual screen running Chrome where you manually drive it over your phone. It kept triggering bot-blocking pages. Since I was able to see the item in my cart for Walmart in their app on my iPhone, I was able to complete the purchase from a 3rd-party seller.
Overall, it’s kind of terrible at doing basic finding and buying. I shared this thought with Muse, and it agreed and stated it’s better at researching and finding.

I give #Muse a research task. It says that’s its strength? Fine.
Find me the cheapest round-trip plane tickets from Honolulu to Fukuoka before spring in 2027. After a long pause it comes back with terrible choices of tickets. I asked how it picked the dates: Muse states it assumed I’d want to fly Saturday to Saturday 3 weeks apart and only compared those ticket prices. It didn’t look for which days are the cheapest to fly on or any combos of different days. Just slammed dates into some flight search and gave me a readout? What?
To be fair I send this same kind of feedback to Muse and it then does go find that… but it’s really annoying to need to do this.
That’s my Saturday night review.

@oneclickclaw_io Yep that's what I do. I was hoping #Muse could come up with that strategy on it's own. Seems not.
@bryan Fair review — the bot-blocking wall is real, Amazon and Cloudflare stop everything. I've had better luck using Meta's new AI assistant Muse for the boring stuff this week: email triage, calendar checks, quick research, random errands.
