my in-development #mastodon / #gotosocial app is looking pretty good on #iPhoneDuo already. Just some bad alignments on the left-side in Portrait mode. I'd like to do better for mixing posts with media/previews.

@bryan That’s school. What problems is your app solving that other Mastodon apps don’t? What’s inspiring you?
@Dame_ I’m just making a mastodon app with all the features I personally want. I’ve played with probably 5 or so other apps (I have 4 installed on my iPhone now) and each one has a cool thing I like but other parts are lame.
My main paid app is Ivory and it infinitely pisses me off I can post a gif in the composer… then the gif won’t play in the Ivory app. Also many apps don’t animate custom server emojis. They don’t play audio. Attaching a pic you have to manually figure out alt text… no built-in tools to describe the image or identify a meme. Many apps have 1-2 of these cool features, and the rest of the app is fine but missing something.
Ivory hands down had the best timeline continuity. But that’s about it. Ice Cubes has best composer. MastoBlaster is easy to use and simple. Notifications are great. The rest is simple. Official app has many features but doesn’t feel like iOS. Not feeling like the latest iOS is very annoying.
Even if no one else uses it when I’m done… I’m ok with that.
@bryan I think those are all great reasons to be honest, not that you needed to provide me with any justification, I was just genuinely curious. I’d love to follow your progress and see how the app comes along. Maybe you can livestream or something sometimes or post as you’re developing?
