jump to repliesr/LocalLLM on #Reddit is such a mixed bag of idiots, morons, techbros, and people trying to exchange some #ML or #LLM information. I’ve been downvoted into the negative, losing worthless internet points, because users don’t like an honest or accurate answer. Then a meme-like comment will make it rain upvotes on me.

back to top@bryan You summed up the entirety of reddit. Only thing less useful are Youtube comments.
@Unabart
So many subreddits have gone to 💩. I’d say my favorite is still r/wallstreetbets
@bryan I quit using it when they broke the Apollo app. I can’t use their app or website. It’s garbage. Can’t stand ads.
@Unabart
Yeah, that sucked. I tried to use the alternative Lemmy, but there doesn’t seem to be enough people using the service.
@bryan I use Lemmy on the regular, but just for casual reading. The nerds with the answers to my tech questions haven’t quite flocked there yet. But, same shit different toilet. I use ChatGPT for this now, and boy has that done me wrong on a few occasions, but it forces me to pay closer attention. Since I moved in Jan, I have yet to unpack my crate of radio projects and musical gear. Waiting on my company to get me storage for all my work gear, then I’ll setup shop again.
@Unabart
Can you recommend an iOS app? The two I tried were 💩. One was abandoned by the author and isn’t available anymore. Not sure what happened.
@bryan I use Voyager on my ipad (most Apollo-like) and on my iphone I use Mlem. I don’t have anything bad to say about either. Both entirely free, no sub, nothing behind paywall.
@Unabart
I use Mlem now but I’m constantly having to logout and back in because it can’t keep my auth token alive or something. It’s really annoying. Maybe the server I’m on is junk. 😑
@bryan Try Voyager. Poached as much from Apollo as possible. I use sh.itjust.works as my instance andnit works quite well. Mlem seems to have this thing where it’ll refresh your feed after a while, or switching apps, but it doesn’t seem to do this on the phone, just ipad. Voyager is solid.
@Unabart
I’m pretty sure it’s my server I’m using. https://lemmy.sdf.org/ ⬅️ I think it might be overloaded? I guess time to find a new server to live on? #lemmy
@bryan That was the first instance I used and as much as much as I support what SDF does, their Lemmy instance is frustrating bad. Always having problems updating, federating, you name it. Definitely move if you want a more fluid experience.
