Wow that looks like the exact instructions I used! except on the website I linked they have an alternate update if you have a minimal install without weyland or X.

Thanks for the link anyway.

Maybe much later Iโ€™ll find some reason this was a bad idea. But for now it seems to be ok.

@bryan Perhaps it's a matter of SEO. Also in this particular case, this is something the Pi engineers don't care to support. That's a little unfortunate since Debian makes in place upgrades possible. I suppose this might be made more difficult due to (what seems to me) a lot of churn in the RpiOS DE. I prefer KDE/Plasma anyway and I doubt they'll ever support that. It's broken in small ways that irritate but don't keep me from using it.
