Had some amazing Chinese
Food tonight in LA area and when I used restroom I saw a sign that proved it was the real deal.

Also cool of them to tolerate my rough Chinese. I do think their translation is wrong. 吐 is vomit or spit but the picture is clearly vomit.

Cartoon of a man vomiting on the floor with this message: 请吐在垃圾桶否则会收取清洁费 Please spit in the trash, or you'll be charged a cleaning fee.

Forgot to share a #Ross find from last week. Just incredible off-the-wall product ideas being sold… anyway, a #Santoku #Knife set from Paris Hilton. There were like 3-4 different sets with different knives. Passed.

Paris Hilton Santoku Knife set. Two gold colored knives in a package. $9.99 if I remember correctly.

#openSource community:

If you move away from Big Tech because you want more freedom, transparency and arbitrary platform decisions…

Can (not may) a platform like #Codeberg decide which kinds of projects are welcome?

Or is that the 1st step onto a slippery slope where today’s “obvious” exclusions become tomorrow’s subjective ones?

Where do you draw the line between responsible stewardship and becoming the gatekeeper you wanted to escape? 🤔

I've literally written my own homepage system of scripts/pipelines multiple times and that was the fun. The content is not anything I'm concerned with. It's the making the process: editor, picture uploading, cdn integration, forms for feedback, pipeline to reprocess, backed by sqlite/postgresql. etc.

This is why I currently don't have a homepage... the old one doesn't interest me anymore so I deleted it.

But the impulse to build again is coming. I can feel it. This time all deployed on Kubernetes. Maybe there will be layers of BS involved: Ceph, redis, MySQL, video processing, etc
