The monkey paw on this is instead of 1 mobile browser (Safari/Webkit) that needs to be targeted on #iOS for web development, something like 8 are needed with 2-3 different JavaScript runtimes.

This actually will push more developers to make apps because the browser is no longer consistent. I remember as a non-decision maker, there was a sizable population of #Apple employees pushing to allow multiple browser engines to ruin the experience of the web in favor of apps in the App Store.

Primary objection of multiple browser engines was security. Apps get abandoned all the time and browsers are already a huge target. Privacy is the other: popular browsers like Chrome are purely built for surveillance of the user.

The ads I see now are Dubai /Qatar / Florida / Hawaii real estate, travel, prediction markets, and getting ripped with exercise guidance apps.

Can’t I get a simple beer or soda ad? This other stuff is nauseating.

Weather in Honolulu #Hawaii was great today. Nice 81° at peak. Vehicle was a toasty 113° after a couple hours parked in the tropical sun. Wife and I had early dinner getting some ramen and beer for happy hour. 🍻

My reason for having #Facebook is to buy/sell on Marketplace. There isn’t anything else to do of value IMHO. I’m annoyed Facebook has been able to displace #Craigslist. Updated the most 💩 app on my phone: #YouTube. They somehow broke search so you cannot search. It’s not possible to select the search box to type anything. Unbelievable.

Tried to get #Litestream working again with #gotosocial but I keep running into 403 errors using #DigitalOcean Spaces for S3. the error is "api error SignatureDoesNotMatch: The request signature we calculated does not match the signature you provided. Check your key and signing method".

This kept repeating until the .sqlite.db-litestream directory filled my disk (about 10x the size of actual DB). Still need to do sqlite backups the old fashioned way: make compressed copy and upload with s3cmd.

Unlocked 500-day streak achievement on #Reddit. I’m 1 out of 1.18 million users that have done this it seems… 😂

This is probably more of a personal failure over an achievement!

Thinking about that time when I had such a great username of “bryan”at my credit union.

When more than 3 attempted logins failed, my account would get locked. They had me change my username to something resembling a password to stop accidental attempts.

I really hate how stupid security is at credit unions and banks. Terrible. 😤
